I believe we should understand the benefits and risks of everything and understand that supplements are drugs. This article talks about the age related decline in concentrations of DHEA  and the evidence both for and against the increasing unsupervised use of DHEA without medical support and the potential issues with that. 


This article digs into something we have talked about before, PCOS. There is a correlation between excess adrenal precursor androgens and PCOS and this article talks about that and how we don’t totally understand that yet and how there may be genetic associations with PCOS. Furthermore, it discusses the cardiovascular protective associations with DHEAS which bears further investigation and research. 

An overview of herbal alternatives in androgenic alopecia 

The second most common cause of hair loss in men and women is hormone imbalance.  This study discusses the role of herbal drugs in reducing hair loss and looks at Saw palmetto, green tea, pumpkin seed, rosemary, grape seed extract and licorice. 

Androgen production in women

When a woman becomes menopausal her ovary becomes an androgen-secreting organ. This study looks at the major androgen precursors and androgens in women.
